Texas Parks and Wildlife continues to report a confirmed red-tide bloom affecting Crystal Beach and the Bolivar Roads area. Recent monitoring found moderate-to-high concentrations, fish kills, and reports of respiratory irritation.
- If you begin coughing or notice eye, throat, or breathing irritation, leave the affected stretch and move upwind or indoors.
- People with asthma or other respiratory conditions should be especially cautious.
- Avoid handling or eating dead or distressed fish.
- Do not eat self-harvested shellfish from affected waters.
- Conditions can be patchy and change quickly, so reassess when you arrive.
