Practical outlook: The cooler early-morning window is the better bet for shore-based fishing. Keep an eye on the sky, get off exposed beaches and water if thunder is heard, carry plenty of water, and avoid pushing through the afternoon heat. Wind and scattered storms may make small-boat conditions less comfortable even outside formal advisory areas.

Texas Parks and Wildlife is monitoring a confirmed red-tide bloom from Crystal Beach on the Bolivar Peninsula south to the north jetty at Bolivar Roads. Recent samples showed moderate-to-high red-tide cell concentrations, with fish kills and reports of mild-to-severe respiratory irritation.
- If you start coughing or experience eye, throat, or breathing irritation, leave the affected stretch of beach and move upwind or indoors.
- People with asthma or other respiratory conditions should be especially cautious.
- Avoid handling or eating dead or distressed fish.
- Do not eat self-harvested shellfish from affected waters.
- Because blooms can be patchy and change quickly, check conditions when you arrive.
