Good morning from Crystal Beach. Here is the fishing and community report for Sunday, November 1, 2026. Daylight Saving Time ended overnight; all times below are local Central Standard Time.
Current Weather and Today’s Forecast
A nearby National Weather Service observation at Galveston’s Scholes Field at 4:30 a.m. reported cloudy skies, about 73°F, 94% humidity, and a north-northeast wind near 5 mph.
For Crystal Beach, the NWS forecast calls for areas of fog before 9:00 a.m., followed by partly sunny skies, a high near 78°F, and a northeast wind around 5 mph. See the National Weather Service forecast for Crystal Beach.
Port Bolivar Tides
High tide: 2:43 a.m. — 2.14 ft
Low tide: 3:16 p.m. — 0.22 ft
NOAA lists no additional high or low extrema for Port Bolivar before midnight. Heights are NOAA predictions for station 8771328, referenced to mean lower low water. View the NOAA tide data.
Major and Minor Solunar Periods
Major periods: 5:05–7:05 a.m. and 5:32–7:32 p.m.
Minor periods: 12:31–1:31 p.m. and 11:32 p.m.–12:32 a.m.
Today’s solunar activity is rated fair. Solunar periods are planning guides rather than guarantees of fish activity. Source: Port Bolivar solunar calendar.
Sun and Moon
Sunrise: 6:31 a.m. Sunset: 5:32 p.m.
The moon reaches third quarter at 2:28 p.m. and is about 54.1% illuminated at lunar noon. See the Crystal Beach sun table and moon table.
Practical Fishing Outlook
The tide will be falling through most of the daylight hours toward the 3:16 p.m. low. The 5:05–7:05 a.m. major period overlaps dawn and moving water, but fog may reduce visibility along beaches, jetties, and roads. The 12:31–1:31 p.m. minor period arrives during the later part of the outgoing tide. The 5:32–7:32 p.m. major period begins at sunset and follows the low on the incoming tide, making it the most attractive window on paper. Light northeast wind should be manageable where local surf and visibility are favorable.
Safety Check
No active NWS land or nearshore marine alerts were posted for Crystal Beach when this report was prepared. Morning fog is expected, and the NWS Houston/Galveston beach page does not currently provide a verified rip-current strength. Slow down in low visibility, check current beach flags and local conditions, and never assume calm-looking water is risk-free.
